Heather O.

Owner & President

Music has been a part of my life for what seems like forever. I began piano lessons at the age of four, followed very closely with voice, theatre and dance. I studied voice and piano with several instructors including Dr. Lee Cass (Carnegie Melon, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and Dr. David Isele (University of Tampa). I have a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and Education with a minor in Psychology and a master’s degree in Music Therapy specializing in pediatrics.

I worked with All Children’s Hospital for a while, however found that I was spending more time with some of the children than their families and honestly, with my big heart, I knew that would wear on me quickly. I still work with the Developmental Council at the hospital because I believe in what they do and they are a wonderful facility. Holding that position allows me to give back to them through the annual auction and telethon, as well as other events such as Baseball for Kids, Ronald McDonald, etc.. While I was working at the hospital assisting in building the program, I had a difficult time finding educational products for music without purchasing through catalogs (lets keep in mind the internet was not that savy in 1994), I found that the music stores were overwhelmingly large or very small and unattended to on some levels. That is when I knew what my purpose in life was…. I wanted to open a music store- something mid-size specializing in music education, offer a few lessons each week, splash in some bright colors and allow customers to touch the instruments. Since its inception, Music Showcase has grown and evolved to such a wonderful level of offering music education to the community. As you peruse our site, you will see the varying facets of the company, renting instruments, sales, repair, lessons, music, karaoke and so much more. We even sponsor a non-profit organization (Brandon Care Pregnancy Center, ECHO, to name a few) each month and give back to the community consistently. My vision for Music Showcase is for it to continue to grow in quality and service- reaching customers of all ages and on all different educational levels. We have some outstanding instructors and the company would not be where it is today without the hard work, dedication and commitment of the employees. We have a great team who works together very hard to exceed customer’s expectations.

When I designed the concept behind Music Showcase, I had one thought in mind….healthy children need encouragement, inspiration, opportunities and motivation regarding music education. We are a family owned and operated business and we are thrilled to be able to offer music education through quality services and products to the tri-county area. It is a proven fact that music makes you smarter and moves toward developing life skills such as confidence, character building and discipline. The goal of Music Showcase is to blend the best of both worlds….large variety with names brands and several choices in educational programs with the personal touch. Building Music Showcase has taken discipline, self-motivation, determination, perseverance, commitment and passion……I love what I do and after twelve years, I am finding the balance between work and family. I leave early to spend time with my children, sing with some local bands at weddings, conventions, etc, volunteer with various organizations that touch my heart, I teach a handful of students voice and piano and I am making every effort to embrace life. I have a very strong faith and relationship with Christ and I owe my many blessings to him. Everything has not been perfect, but even through the hard times, the storms and the trials he was there and he walked through it with us and we have come out stronger and more blessed. Remember, there is no dream too big and with hard work and perseverance, if you live passionately, and spread your wings you will fly to places you once thought were unreachable.

On October 28, 2010, Heather received the Development of the Arts in the Community Award. The award was part of the 2010 Brush Strokes Awards for Excellence in the Arts presented at Center Place in Brandon and sponsored by the Greater Brandon Arts Council.
