Voice and Piano

Aina von EssenKelsey Yantzer is a classically trained soprano with over 15 years of performance experience. Her training and experience include all genres from opera to musical theater to pop/jazz. She earned her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at the University of South Florida. During her undergrad, Ms. Kelsey studied voice in Florence, Italy for a summer semester where she performed a solo recital. She has sung with professional organizations such as Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Opera Tampa, and is currently under contract with the professional vocal ensemble Gloria Musicale of Sarasota under the direction of Joseph Holt in its 2015-2016 season. As a performer, Ms. Kelsey has sung roles in scenes such as Nannetta in Falstaff, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Baby Doe in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Marsinah in Kismet, Kathy in The Last Five Years, and Glinda in Wicked. Her oratorio experience includes Elijah in which she sang as part of a trio with the Gloria Musicale Singers of Sarasota, Messiah at Florida Southern College, Mozart’s Requiem with the University of South Florida Chamber Singers, and Creation with Gloria Musicale. She also sang with the Opera Tampa Chorus in the Andrea Bocelli concert at the Amalie Arena in 2013. She currently sings as soprano soloist for various churches in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, & Sarasota areas. In 2013, she took on the single greatest role of her life as “Mama”, when her lovely daughter, Sofia, was born. Although her passion has always been to perform, Ms. Kelsey has discovered a second love in teaching over the past 6 years as a private instructor of both voice and piano. Her experience includes teaching students of all ages from preschool aged children to adults. As well as teaching privately, Ms. Kelsey has taught music in a preschool setting and also teaches group seminars on vocal technique to high school and church choirs. Her expertise includes proper vocal technique and pedagogy, proper piano technique, beginner to advanced music theory, stage presence and acting. “I love music and as a teacher it is my goal to share a role in your musical journey by sharing my expertise, love and enthusiasm for this powerful art form.
